MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- 5th and 6th graders from the Twin Branch Elementary Robotics Team are headed to the World Robotics Tournament in Houston this April, after winning the Indiana State Competition in December.

They call themselves the ‘Sunny Delights’, and they’re looking for the community’s help to get them to Texas.

The team currently has a GoFundMe set up with a goal of $25,000, enough to send the entire team of kids and coaches to Texas to represent Indiana in the competition.

Along with the GoFundMe, the kids are also organizing a school dance, complete with concessions stand and other fun activities to raise some money towards their trip.

They’re also working on putting together a trivia night that will be open to anyone in the community who enjoys trivia.

The kids will be the only school to represent not just Indiana, but the city of Mishawaka specifically, among over 800 other teams from all over the globe.

Money raised will help cover things like hotel rooms, transportation, food and other travel or competition fees.

Lauren Gaskill, Coach of the Sunny Delights shares that she’s excited for the kids, adding that they have “huge hearts, they really care deeply about each other, they’re genuine, they’re very intelligent, they’re curious.”

The team put together a promo video on Youtube, detailing more about why they need the community’s support. You can watch the video here.
