WARSAW, Ind. -- Egg farmers across the country are on the frontlines against bird flu, including right here in the Hoosier State.
ABC57’s Jackie Bauer headed down to the ‘Egg Basket of the Midwest’ where Creighton Brothers LLC, has spent sleepless nights protecting their birds from the disease that can be spread on something as small as a speck of dust!
The farm, started as just a few thousand baby chicks a hundred years ago, and has now has the capacity for 3 million chickens.
“It’s sad and frustrating and stressful and everything and we just keep hoping and praying every day that our house stay buttoned up and secure enough that we keep the virus out but we know our day today or tomorrow or maybe never we don’t know,” said President and 3rd generation farmer, Mindy Creighton Truex, who explained their bio security measures, and what this all means for their ‘Crazy Egg Cafe’.
