Local funeral home closed due to unpaid taxes

A judge has issued a temporary restraining order against the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home in South Bend because it has allegedly failed to pay over $250,000 in taxes.

According to court records, the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home had 188 tax warrants for unpaid retail sales, withholding taxes and corporate income taxes between December 2002 and January 31, 2014 in the amount of $258,329.25.

In addition, the company has been operating without a Registered Retail Merchant Certificate since April 2, 2013, according to court documents.

The temporary restraining order prevents the company from taking on new clients and must provide a complete list of current business by December 3 at noon.

The state is also requesting a permanent restraining order against the company.
