SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Local children's center, Place To Be Me, hosted a lively Christmas celebration, Wednesday night.
Volunteers from Grace United Methodist Church and Notre Dame joined to create a special day for the 21 children in attendance with multiple activities: mini bowling, a fishhook game with candy canes, pin the nose on the snowman, face painting and gifts from Santa.
Molly Albert was excited to attend and hang out with her friends.
"I feel like I actually have friends in my life," she said.
Place To Be Me, a non-profit that works with children and adults with special needs, offers a community and place for attendees to be themselves.
"It gives them time to be social with other peers that are like them," said Heley Wigfall, Program Director at The Place To Be Me. "It gives them something fun to do. So, we do programs in the community, we do programs at our facility, and it just gives them an experience that they might not do otherwise."
