Local pet clinic offers discounted spay and neuter surgeries

GRANGER, Ind. -- A local pet clinic is giving cats their fix.

Thursday is Kryder Vet Clinic's second annual "Get Your Fix" day.

They are providing spay and neuter surgeries as well as rabies vaccines to 40-cats, all for the price of $15. Those procedures usually can cost hundreds of dollars.

Doctor Donn Kryder explains how he does it for more than money.

"Well, I love it. It's all we're about. Being a part of the community, giving back to the community. Helping to fix problems out there, not just be a part of the problem, but to help fix the problem," said Dr. Kryder.

Kryder says that stopping the breeding cycle is the only humane way to control Michiana's wild cat population.

Statistics show that 80-percent of kittens are born to cats in the wild.
