Mailbox bombings puts neighborhood on edge

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Police are investigating a string of mailbox bombings. Over the past few days, at least four mailboxes were damaged or destroyed near Indianapolis.

Police say the bombs are homemade and that no one has been hurt. Neighbors are worried that it is only a matter of time.

"It blew the back out of it and the door off of it and it just opened it up," said Dwight Watkins, mailbox destroyed by explosive.

"That's frightening to have a bunch of young children who go out and get your mail and bring it in for you and have a bomb in there," said Liz Vandyke, neighbor.

Officers say chemicals and fumes from the bombs can be harmful to the skin, eyes and lungs.
