Major fire sparks at Park Jefferson Apartments

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A major fire has sparked at Park Jefferson Apartments around 6:15 a.m. on Friday.

Fire crews arrived at 3001 East Jefferson Street in South Bend. The fire is believed to have started on the second story of an apartment building.

Flames were so bad, they caused the roof to collapse and firefighters had to be exacuated. At least 20 units are said to have been damaged, including eight that have been completely destroyed.

No injuries have been reported.

This is the third time a fire has sparked at Park Jefferson Apartments in less than three months. Eight apartment units were completely destroyed on October 28th.  Panic broke out again at the complex the next day, Oct. 29, when lightning struck a utility shed and caused another fire.
