Man accused of stabbing woman in the face during argument

ELKHART, Ind. – A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a woman in the face during an argument, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 12:37 a.m. on Wednesday, police arrived to the 1300 block of Delaware Street for a stabbing report.

A witness said a man just stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the face, according to reports.

The incident allegedly took place during an argument while children were present.

The victim was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The man accused of the stabbing had left the scene before police arrived but was located shortly after in the area of W. Wolf Avenue and Compton Avenue.

The man, later identified as 36-year-old Alex Cox of Elkhart, was arrested and taken to the hospital for treatment.

During a search incident to arrest, officers found marijuana on Cox, reports said.

Cox was booked on the charges of domestic battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16, and possession of marijuana.
