Man accused of trying to shoot girlfriend during argument

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A man was arrested on multiple charges after allegedly firing shots inside a home because his girlfriend didn't make him a plate of food, according to court records.
South Bend Police responded to a home on Monday evening for reports of a domestic incident.
When they arrived, they found two children inside a car and a man and woman on the porch.
Initially, the pair said there was only an argument, but the children, ages 8 and 9, told police Damone McFerren fired shots inside the home, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The woman then admitted McFerren became angry with her because she didn't make him a plate of food, he chased her in the house, drew a handgun and fired at her three times, reports said.
The incident happened in front of the children.
McFerren then went outside and hid the handgun, reports said.
Inside the home, police located three spent shell casings.
Police located a loaded 45 caliber handgun in a discarded tire in the alleyway, reports said.
McFerren has previously been convicted of distribution of heroin and was on federal probation at the time of the incident.
McFerren has been charged with pointing a firearm, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery by means of a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by serious violent felon, unlawful carrying of a handgun and unlawful carrying of handgun prior conviction.
