Man airlifted to hospital after ATV crash in Kosciusko County

KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind.—A man was airlifted to a hospital following an ATV crash on Thursday.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash that happened on South Barbee Drive near the intersection of EMS B29 Lane around 9:06 p.m. on Thursday.

Early investigation findings show that 44-year-old Brian Stump was driving a a Suzuki QuadSport ATV with a juvenile male relative as a passenger when Stump drove the ATV off of the roadway and hit a tree.

A passerby found Stump unresponsive.

Stump was airlifted to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne and the juvenile passenger was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

Both driver and passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Conservation Officers are reminding operators and passengers of ATVs to always follow all manufacturers’ safety recommendations and use proper safety equipment.

Indiana State Law prohibits driving an ATV under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
