Man allegedly hits woman with vehicle before being shot on Center Street in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department is investigating after a man allegedly hit a woman with a vehicle before being shot at by other men in the 1000 block of Center St. Tuesday evening.

At 6:40 p.m., officers were called to the area for reports of gunfire.

According to the investigation, a man and woman were arguing when the man got into a Ford Focus and put it in reverse, hitting a parked truck in the driveway.

While in the vehicle, the man also allegedly hit the woman with the vehicle.

The 18-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Two unknown men then arrived to the area and allegedly fired shots at the Ford Focus while the man was still inside it.

Officers found that 20-year-old man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near Cemetery and Middlebury streets.

He was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

On Center Street, police found the crashed Ford Focus, which had also been damaged by apparent bullet holes.

No arrests have been made at this time.
