Man arrested after allegedly beating dog to death

A Mishawaka man was arrested on a preliminary charge of animal cruelty for allegedly beating a dog to death with an oar following a domestic disturbance, according to the South Bend Police Department.
South Bend Police were called to the home and found the dog deceased and the suspect gone.
The suspect, 31-year-old Joshua T. Prior, was arrested just before midnight Tuesday in the area of Ewing and Michigan Street.
He was arrested without incident.
