Man arrested after allegedly crashing into utility pole and building

Police arrested a man who they say crashed into a utility pole and a building on State Road 2 early Wednesday morning.

Officers from the St. Joseph County Police Department were dispatched to an injury report at 25190 S.R. 2 at approximately 3:14 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a black male identified as 37-year-old Brandon Guess, walking around his vehicle that was crashed into the north side of Western Veterinarian Clinic. 

Police say Guess’s white Grand Prix sustained heavy damage from the building and from allegedly hitting utility pole, breaking it in half.

Guess was not injured in the crashes. 

Officials report an employee from the clinic found Guess’s Samsung cell phone at the site of the crash. 

Damage from this accident is also said to have affected three vehicles parked in the Auto Import Specialists parking lot and a mailbox belonging to a nearby residence. 

Both locations that reported the damages, neighbor the scene of the accident.

According to police, Guess was arrested for driving under the influence.
