Man arrested after allegedly leading chase, throwing narcotics evidence out of vehicle

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A man was arrested on Monday after allegedly leading police on a pursuit and throwing narcotics-related evidence out of the vehicle during the chase, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At 8:03 p.m., deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 63000 block of Lutz Road in Constantine.

The vehicle stopped briefly before allegedly leaving at a high speed, according to reports.

Deputies followed the vehicle for approximately seven miles. The suspect vehicle traveled over 100 mph, reports said.

Officer with the Three Rivers Police Department assisted deputies by chasing the vehicle and deploying stop sticks in the city.

During the pursuit, the suspect allegedly threw narcotics-related evidence out of the vehicle, according to police.

The vehicle eventually stopped and the driver was arrested in the 1200 block of Hov Aire Drive in Three Rivers.

The suspect, a 41-year-old Three Rivers man, was arrested on the charges of possession of meth, possession of oxycodone, fleeing and eluding, destruction of evidence, and parole violation.
