Man arrested after allegedly stealing phone from casino patron
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A man has been charged for allegedly stealing a cell phone a patron dropped on the floor of the South Bend Casino, according to court records.
On October 19, Pokagon Tribal Police received reports of a stolen phone at the Four Winds Casino.
When officers arrived, the security manager told officers the suspect was in the bathroom.
Police entered the bathroom and spoke with the suspect, later identified as Justin Debroka.
Debroka told officers, "I know what you're after," reports said. When police asked what it was, Debroka replied, "the phone," reports said.
Officers patted Debroka down to find the phone and a capped syringe fell out of his pants, reports said.
Debroka was taken into custody.
During the investigation, police reviewed surveillance video from the casino that showed Debroka pick up the phone right after the owner dropped it, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Debroka has been charged with unlawful possession of a syringe, theft and theft with prior conviction for robbery or burglary.
