MARSHALLL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports dispatch received a call around 1:36 a.m. on July 25 from the Starke County Sheriff's Office requesting assistance investigating an incident that occurred in the 11000 block of S.R. 10, west of Culver.

Deputies arrived at the residence shortly after the call.

Authorities on scene were informed an incident had occurred between a young child and 42-year-old David P. Howard, of Culver.

The investigation found evidence indicating Howard had performed a sex act in the presence of the child.

Authorities say preliminary info gathered at the scene indicated Howard had attempted to destroy evidence involved in the incident.

Howard was detained and taken to the Starke County Jail.

He faces charges of Vicarious Sexual Gratification and Obstruction of Justice and is being held on a $6,000 cash bond.
