Man burns flag in protest of Whitney Houston

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Whitney Houston's home state of New Jersey lowered its flags to half-staff in honor of the singer after her death last week, and the decision to lower flags sparked outrage in some.

A Kalamazoo man even went as far as to burn a New Jersey flag in response to Governor Chris Christie's decision to lower the flags. John Burri is the father of a U.S. soldier killed in Iraq. He says he was "outraged" when he heard about the flags being flown at half-staff. Burri believes lowering the flag should only be done for those who lost their lives serving the country.

"Maybe it's a little drastic...but I'm sorry, this is how much it hurts; this is how much a slap in the face it is to all that have served and given their life," says Burri.

Burri's son, Eric, was killed in Iraq in 2005 when his Humvee was hit by an IED.
