Man charged with battery on corrections employees

Two corrections employees were battered by a man at the Elkhart County Courthouse, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, David Andrew reported he and another corrections employee, Christina Smith, were battered by Bruce Williams Jr.

Andrew told deputies he and Smith were battered while performing their duties as corrections Elkhart County Community Corrections employees.

Andrew suffered minor scratches to his right arm and Smith had an abrasion and swelling on her right arm.

Williams was arrested for battery on a community corrections employee and resisting law enforcement.
