Man charged with OWI after crashing into tree

At 5:18 a.m. on Sunday, Elkhart County police responded to a call about a car that crashed into a tree.

The driver was traveling eastbound on State Line Road just west of County Road 19 when he failed to stop at the stop sign and drove off the road at the intersection.

The vehicle struck a tree and the driver complained of abdominal pain.

There were no other passengers in the car.

The driver was wearing a seat belt.

The driver was transported by Porter emergency medical services to Elkhart General Hospital.

Following his treatment, the driver was incarcerated for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
