Man convicted of child molestation sentenced to 60 years in prison

A La Porte County man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for two counts of child molestation, according to court records.

Richard Piechocki, 46, pleaded guilty to two counts of child molestation on March 11. The other charges, three counts of child molesting, four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and child molesting fondling or touching, were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Piechocki was charged in August 2020.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison on each count of child molesting, with the sentences to run consecutively. He received credit for 232 days served in jail.

As part of the sentencing, Piechocki must undergo a substance abuse evaluation, undergo a psychosexual evaluation and complete any recommended sex offender treatment. He is also ordered not to have any contact with the six victims and one witness in the case.
