Man crashes into tree

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A South Bend man is fighting to stay alive at Memorial Hospital after he crashed his car. At 8 AM, a passerby noticed a car had crashed into a tree on Madison Road in southern St. Joseph County.
When officers arrived, they saw the driver was unconscious. 27-year-old Rodney Murphy was freed from the vehicle.
The last time we checked in, he was undergoing surgery. Officers said he suffered serious head injuries from the crash, and further injuries from he exposure to the cold weather.
The crash is still under investigation.
