Body of Chicago man recovered from Lake Michigan

LAKE COUNTY, Ind - An investigation is underway after the body of a Chicago man was recovered from Lake Michigan.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday emergency personnel responded to reports of a missing person at Whiting Lakefront Park in Lake County.

The person was last seen struggling in the water and going under the surface near the boat ramps.

27-year-old Geraldo Castaneda-Soto was eventually located by the Whiting Fire Dept. and rushed to the hospital in East Chicago.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Cause of death will be determined after an autopsy is completed.
