Man injured in shooting near Vistula and Lexington Avenue

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday afternoon near Vistula Street and Lexington Avenue.

Police responded to the area around 3:47 p.m. for reports of gunfire.

When they arrived to the intersection, they did not find any victims, but shell casings were located and collected.

While investigating, police learned a man with a gunshot wound had been taken to the hospital by a family member. The victim is in his early 20s.

Police located the victim's vehicle on Stevens Street and found damage consistent with gunfire, police said.

The victim's injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.
