UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department identified the victim of a shooting on South 5th Street as 44-year-old Tom Moser III of Elkhart. The Elkhart County Homicide Unit continues to investigate the incident.

ELKHART, Ind. - The Elkhart Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a man in the 500 block of South 5th Street early Thursday morning.

Police say the report came in just before 3:30 a.m. after nearby residents reported hearing shots fired.

When police got to the scene, they found the man dead inside a home.
