Man missing after boating during a storm in Monroe County

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. – A man is missing who was last seen boating at the Monroe Reservoir Friday evening.

DNR released the identity of the man Saturday, he is 26-year-old Anup Thota.

The Bloomington man was in the Lake Monroe with friends when a storm passed through around 8:30 p.m.

When the storm was over, his friends realized they lost sight of him, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

Indiana Conservation Officers and other emergency crews were called to search for the missing man.

Officials are using Side-Scan Sonar technology to find him.

The search will continue Saturday evening and if the man is not found, it will continue Sunday morning.
