Man has his car stolen on Christmas Eve

SOUTH BEND,Ind -- 21 year old Alexander Muhumuza says his car was stolen in downtown South Bend on Christmas Eve while he was dropping something off to a friend.

Alexander says he arrived at the Commerce Center on Colfax Avenue in South Bend, just after 6 p.m. in the evening.

Video shows Alexander parking his car, turning on his hazard lights, then leaving his car running as he goes inside to drop something off to his friend.

"So, I just dropped off some stuff to my buddy and by the time i came back to my car it was gone," said alleged victim Alexander Muhumuza.

Minutes later, the same camera footage shows two people walking by Alex’s 2016 silver Kia forte but also being suspicious of the vehicle running without anyone in the car.

"I didn’t really think of anything because in my mind i thought by the time i come back the car was going to be there. You know I thought it was just something quick. Nothing crossed my mind like a second thought because i was just like let me go drop this and then come back and then get back home," said Muhumuza.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go that way.

After being suspicious of the running vehicle the two people on your screen walked away but came back later.

Only this time, they came back to take the car, leaving Alex with no way home and without his car on Christmas Eve.

"It was scary and annoying honestly. Because I was like, I don’t know it’s something I would never do someone and I was like, why? Why me?" said Muhumuza.

Alexander Muhumuza's says the vehicle is a Silver 2016 Kia Forte and says rim cap on the front passenger side tire is cracked.
