Manti Te'o nominated for 2012 Senior Class Award

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- It has been an overwhelming week for Irish linebacker Manti Te'o.

A week ago, Te'o learned that his grandmother and girlfriend died within 24 hours of each other.

And on Thursday, he was nominated for the 2012 Senior Class Award.

He is one of 30 football student athletes who be selected as finalists later on this season.

The senior class award is an acronym for "Celebrating Loyalty and Achievements for Staying in School" and goes to the student athlete who excels on and off the gridiron.
