Marcellus man electrocuted while working at area farm

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- An employee working on constructing a new storage facility at the Sparks Cedarlee Farms was killed Thursday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the incident happened at the farm, in the 59000 block of Gards Prairie Road, around 9:30 a.m.

Deputies say 19-year-old Rocky Stoner was holding a steel roof truss while another employee was working a forklift to move the truss in position. While it was being moved, the truss touched a nearby power line and shocked Stoner, reports said.

The other employee rendered aid to Stoner and called 9-1-1.

Stoner was taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
