"Margaritaville" singer and inspiration Jimmy Buffet passed away at age 76
Singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett (1946-2023), who inspired the beach themed Margaritaville resorts and restaurants across the country passed away peacefully on September 1 at the age of 76.
According to Buffett's official website, he passed away peacefully surrounded by those he loved: family, friends, music and dogs.
"He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."
No information has been released as to how he passed, but he will be missed.
"Sad to hear the world lost Jimmy Buffet last night, but what a great life he lived as he brought so much happiness to the world. I think "Come Monday" is my favorite song of his. He was at his best solo on an acoustic in my opinion." - John Rich, from Big and Rich on X.
"In the early 2000’s my wife worked at a souvenir shop on the gulf coast of Florida and, as you might expect, she came out of that experience with permanent Jimmy Buffet fatigue. But over the years (in part guided by our friends the McElroy brothers) we have softened. I particularly came to look at him as someone who understood people, how to bring them together and give them a common identity that was joyful and always open and non-exclusive. That’s actually really tricky. What a thing to give to people, and from such a simple foundation. I think I’ll still be learning from him for a long time." - Hank Green on X
Buffett has inspired a laid-back aesthetic to American culture: good vibes, good drinks, good music.
