Mayor Moore encourages locals to 'Shop Elkhart'

ELKHART, Ind. – On Monday, the City of Elkhart launched a new program designed to help local businesses grow and succeed!

It's called "Shop Elkhart.” Here's how it works. Shop owners can link their stores to the city's webpage to promote different sales, coupons and merchandise for free!

Mayor Dick Moore says too many people shop online or outside of Elkhart, when those very same products are sold in town.

"We need to stop the money from leaving our area we need to continue to spend for our wants and our needs here in the city of Elkhart and it's a great benefit to all of us,” said Mayor Dick Moore.

The City of Elkhart invested $5,000 into this new initiative. A similar program failed to catch on in South Bend, but the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce believes it will do better there.
