Mayor Pete Buttigieg to fulfill service to U.S. Navy Reserve

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is set to fulfill his annual two-week obligation to the U.S. Navy Reserve.

He will complete his service from Sunday, May 31 through Saturday, June 13 in the Washington, D.C. area.

This is a regular service requirement that also includes one weekend a month. 

Mayor Buttigieg will be in daily contact with his administration during this time.

Mayor Buttigieg is a former lieutenant in U.S. Navy Reserve after serving in Afghanistan during a seven-month deployment in 2014.

He helped with counterterrorism work and was recognized with the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

Since taking office in 2012, Mayor Buttigieg has continued to fulfill his monthly weekend and annual two-week service to the U.S. Navy Reserve.
