SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend mayoral candidate Will Smith was arrested in California at the end of last year, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Smith is already facing theft charges in Indiana.
Smith was squatting at a home in Malibu and was arrested for trespassing in December 2018, according to the sheriff's department.
The home where Smith was allegedly squatting was for rent or lease.
Smith asked about renting the home, but never signed paperwork or paid any money, according to the sheriff's department.
The case is still under investigation.
We are working on getting the arrest report and a mugshot.
