McDonald's in South Bend currently closed due to grease fire

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Fire Department responded to a commercial fire at the McDonald's at 416 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. around 9:15 Monday night.

"Upon arrival, crews were met with an employee at the entrance of the business," fire officials said. "There happened to be a grease fire in the fryer which the employee extinguished with a Class K extinguisher."

The restaurant was closed, and health department representative called.

McDonald's employees say they expect the restaurant to be open by dinner time on Tuesday.

There were no reports of injuries to firefighters on scene or employees working at the business.
