MDHHS: new data shows majority of COVID-19 hospital patients are unvaccinated
New data from the Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) shows that the majority of Michigan residents who are seriously sick with COVID-19 are not vaccinated, the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services announced on Thursday.
Based on recent data form most health systems in the state, MHA found the following:
- Three out of four COVID-19 patients are unvaccinated (76%)
- 87% of COVID-19 ICU patients are unvaccinated
- 88% of COVID-19 ventilator patients are unvaccinated
“The data is clear: if you are unvaccinated, you are risking hospitalization or death,” said Elizabeth Hertel, MDHHS director. “We have a safe and effective vaccine that is quite literally saving lives. Michigan residents absolutely need to get vaccinated to keep their loved ones safe this holiday.”
