Memorial Hospital in South Bend is honoring their health care heroes.
National Nurses Week is usually celebrated with a big award ceremony but given social distancing guidelines this year, they are bringing the fun to their departments by showering their nurses with small gifts, snacks and treats.
“I’ve never been more proud of nurses because they are rising to the occasion and resiliency is one of the best things about nurses and you can really see it shining through right now. And so they’re tired, some of them are working a lot of extra hours, it is a lot of extra steps. Nurses are the heart of a lot of what happens inside a hospital so always happy to celebrate them," Sarah Paturalski, VP of Nursing at Memorial Hospital.
The nurses are also getting t-shirts that say "Year of the Nurse 2020."
