Small Business Saturday swept across Michiana
Lake effect snow continues this morning. Be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time to drive into school or work safely. Roads are slick and snow covered, and if you are driving through falling snow, visibility could be near whiteout at times.
LaPorte and Berrien Counties will likely have the highest impacts with the highest snow totals this morning – try to avoid getting on the roads if you can delay your travel.
A few winter weather driving reminders:
- Leave early, slow down, increase time to stop
- Leave extra room between cars and snow plows
- Headlights on while snowing, even in daylight
- Drive with a full tank of gas
- Keep warm clothes, water, and a shovel in your car in case of emergencies
While the eastern half of Michiana will see snow stop later this morning, for areas near the lake, snow continues into the afternoon and evening.
Temperatures are cold today and Friday in the low 20s. No huge improvement in temperatures through the end of January, as we will likely stay below freezing. We’ll keep an eye on a few snow showers this weekend and early next week.
Today: Lake effect snow showers. High 22.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Low 8.
Friday: Mostly sunny. High 24.
Saturday: Mostly cloudy. High 28.
