Metro Homicide identifies man killed in shooting on North Elmer Street

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has released the name of the man who was killed in a shooting Tuesday evening.
The victim was identified as 19-year-old Alan Diaz.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday in Fort Wayne.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1600 block of N. Elmer Street just before midnight. When they arrived, they located Diaz, who had been shot.
Diaz was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
