MHSAA will not make any changes to high school sports’ schedules
The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced that every sports program will go on as traditionally scheduled.
The MHSAA also says that they are developing “contingency concepts” in case any changes need to be made in the future.
The decision was made following a virtual among the MHSAA Representative Council on July 15.
In a statement, MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl said: “Our student-athletes just want to play, and we’ve gone far too long without them playing. But doing so safely, of course, remains the priority. Our plan moving forward is Fall in the Fall, starting on time. We’re excited to continue moving forward to bring back sports safely. It’s important for keeping students in our schools and keeping students in our sports programs.”
Michigan high school football practices are scheduled to begin on August 10.
