Michelin tire recall: What you should know

Michelin Tires has issued a recall. One local expert who said tires with this kind of mechanical issue can easily put you and other drivers on the road in danger.

The tire being recalled is a specific size of the Michelin LTX M/S tire. The specific number is:  LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 115/112R LRE.

Zolman Tire Assistant Manager Steve Wroblewski said, “It’s being recalled for tread loss and rapid air loss.”

He said those tires are typically found on pickup trucks, vans, and small RVs.

Ignoring the recall can put yourself and other drivers around you at risk so it’s important to take those tires in and get them replaced.

“Once that tire goes down it can just veer off onto the side of the road, whether that’s veering you into oncoming traffic or veering you into a ditch on the other side of the road you just don’t know,” Wroblewski said.

That’s especially dangerous with a lot more people on the roads because of the holidays.

“If you’re going at a high rate of speeds, you can lose traction, stability, if that tread comes off,” he said.

He said keep an eye out for cracking in the side wall or in the tread, any bulge on the side wall, and for any vibration you feel while you’re driving.
