Michiana cops find more funny money

In the past several weeks, officers with multiple agencies have been investigating counterfeit bills being passed off at Michiana businesses. Now, La Porte police say funny money has showed up there.

The search is on for two men believed to be in possession of fake $100 bills.

On Thursday, November 6, La Porte officers say a phony note was presented to a cashier at the GNC on Pine Lake Avenue. The employee thought something was off. So, along with a clerk from a neighboring business, the employee took the bill to a bank.

The bank confirmed it was indeed a forgery.

Later that day, another man tried to pass off the counterfeit cash. This time, the GNC employee immediately recognized that the bill was fake and told the suspect he needed to pay with real cash.

The suspect rushed out of the store.

According to police, both men were seen leaving the area in a green, older model Kia SUV.

Over the past several weeks, South Bend Police have been looking into counterfeit cash, too
