MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – A Michiana Navy Veteran was honored by the Center for Hospice Care in Plymouth through a pinning program.
Ramon “Dusty” Eckman served abroad on the USS Wooster from 1947 to 1951. Also, Eckman just turned 91 in July.
The Center for Hospice Care finds veterans within all branches of the military and honors them with a pin, blanket and kind words.
Eckman remembers the time he served fondly – saying that there were deep bonds made between his crewmates.
“I’ll be honest with you, of all the wars this world has seen, nothing other than the freedom of people has been worth the effort,” Eckman said.
