Michiana pizza shop partners with local animal organization to raise awareness on adoptable animals
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Michiana pizza shop is partnering with a local animal rescue to raise awareness on the dogs and cats who need a new home.
Starting Monday, Center Stage Pizza in South Bend will attach flyers with a picture and description of adoptable dogs and cats available through Pet Refuge to each of its pizza boxes.
"I'm a huge animal lover and I've always had pets, I've always had dogs, and I just thought there's a lot of great dogs out there or cats too that need homes that don't have homes and just need to get their faces out in front of people," said Doug Michael, owner of Center Stage Pizza.
Michael says the initiative will last indefinitely.
Right now, there are roughly 60 dogs and 100 cats available for adoption at Pet Refuge.
"He could sell pizzas and we could get dogs and cats adopted at the same time and it's just a wonderful partnership," said Nancy Whiteman, a volunteer with Pet Refuge. "It's one more avenue to get out to some people that maybe aren't familiar with our shelter."
Pizza orders can be placed by calling (574) 472-8700 or clicking here.
