Michigan City beaches see 40 mile per hour winds during Tonight's storm

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City beaches see 40 mile per hour winds during Tonight's storm


Michigan City was among the areas hardest hit by this evening's storm. Powerful winds coming across Michigan Lake into the city were over 40 miles per hour throughout the night.


There is a lake shore flood advisory in the area and will remain in effect until Friday evening. The advisory is said to stay in effect as look as there are reports of 15 to 20 feet waves, which could cause flooding along the shore.


People visiting the Washington Park beach are being asked to stay off piers and jetties. People in the area reported to ABC 57 tonight that waves were several feet high, crashing up and over the pier at Washington Park.


There is also a wind advisory that will remain in effect until Friday afternoon, when wind gust could reach up to 55 miles per hour.
