Michigan City double homicide victims identified, cause of death released

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Michigan City Police Department has released the names of the victims in the weekend's double homicide.

The victims were identified as 67-year-old Eddie Nixon and 66-year-old Sylvia White, both Michigan City residents.

Police say the pair was also known to the juvenile suspect.

Police had been called to a residence in the 100 block of Schofield Court for a welfare check, during which Nixon and White were found deceased.

The La Porte County Coroner stated the victims died from multiple stab wounds.

According to a press release from MCPD, at 1:11 a.m., Sunday, the La Porte County Regional Dispatch Center got a 911 call about a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Johnson Road and County Road West 300 North in La Porte.

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to the scene. La Porte County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to ABC57 that upon arrival, the deputies located a male juvenile who had crashed into a tree.

The juvenile was detained and MCPD told ABC57 a probable cause affidavit and charging information were signed by the La Porte County Prosecutor’s Office on Monday.
