Michigan City man accused of armed robbery arrested in New Buffalo
NEW BUFFALO, Mich. – A man who police say was involved in an armed robbery was arrested in New Buffalo during a traffic stop Thursday morning.
According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy pulled over a vehicle on U.S. 12 near Wilson Road for having defective equipment.
During the stop, the deputy noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view and took the driver, later identified as a 46-year-old man from Michigan City, into custody.
Deputies say a handgun was found under the driver’s seat.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department came to assist the BCSD when officials noticed the suspect’s vehicle matched the description of a vehicle used during an armed robbery in Michigan City.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail while another passenger talked with detectives.
Michigan City Police is still investigating the armed robbery.
