Michigan City Police investigating reports of shots fired over the weekend

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – The Michigan City Police Department is investigating reports of shots fired in the 200 block of Columbia Street Saturday night.

At 10:22 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired and a vehicle being struck by gunfire.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident, reports said.

Officers searched the area and gathered numerous used up ammunition cartridges lying on the pavement.

Officers also interviewed witnesses at the scene and learned that a residence and a dark-colored passenger vehicle traveling in the area had both been struck by gunfire.

Three people were seen in the vicinity when the shots were fired at the vehicle, reports said.

Officers also learned of more damage in the 200 block of Columbia Street through their investigating.

Detectives are continuing to interview witnesses, identify any suspect(s), look for video surveillance, and process collected evidence from the scene.
