Michigan high school students arrested after cafeteria food fight prank

MONROE Mich. -- A food fight in the lunch room landed four high school students in jail.

The Jefferson High School students walked into court Wednesday in handcuffs and jail uniforms.

Administrators say they won't be allowed to participate in any school activities, even those off of school grounds.

People in the community say the punishment doesn't fit the prank.

"I just threw what was left of my food on the ground and that's what I got suspended for,” said Cory Long.

"Every one of us did something goofy in high school,” said Cory’s mother Tina Long. “Now they want to do this to the kids?"

To make matters worse there are now talks about expelling the students who were arrested.
