Michigan man charged with allegedly fleeing South Bend police after traffic stop
St. Joseph County Jail SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Michigan man faces multiple charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Leaving the Scene of an Accident after allegedly leading South Bend police officers on a chase.
The alleged incident happened July 18. Investigators say officers patrolling near O'Brien Street and Elwood Avenue clocked a car driven by Arthur Dewuan Crew going 40 mph in a 20 mph zone. Officers pulled Crew over; he allegedly drove away quickly as officers were running his information.
Officials say that as Crew was driving away, he allegedly crashed into a sedan and continued driving. The occupants of that car suffered minor injuries.
Shortly after the crash, investigators say Crew allegedly left his vehicle and ran off on foot. Officers gave chase and were able to catch and take Crew into custody. He was found to have an additional warrant pending in St. Joseph County.
