NILES, Mich. -- Starting today, children ages 2 - 4 are required to wear a mask in Michigan. This new order is an effort to ensure these children wear masks while at child care or camps.
The Michigan chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics encouraged the mandate as a proper tool to slow the spread. But the mitten state is not the only one to see a spike among children.
The AAP is also reporting more than 64,000 new cases in children nationwide between March 18th and the 25th which was the highest weekly total. States such as California, Illinois, and Oregon are requiring masks for anyone over the age of 2. Now, Michigan is part of that growing list.
