Michigan passes abortion insurance restrictions

Michigan lawmakers passed a controversial bill that will require women to pay an extra insurance fee for abortions.

Starting in March Michigan will become the ninth state to ban the use of private insurance plans for covering abortions.

The new bill will have the biggest impact on lower income women who can not afford to pay the extra fees.

That bill passed mostly along party lines with all republicans in both the house and senate voting in favor.
